The Municipal Chief Executive for the Oforikrom Municipal Assembly, Hon. Anwel Sadat Ahmed, has called on Ghanaians to remain united, peaceful, and committed to national development as the country commemorates its 69th Independence Anniversary.

In a goodwill message issued to mark the historic occasion, the MCE urged residents of the municipality and the nation at large to reflect on the courage and sacrifices of the country’s forefathers who fought tirelessly to secure independence for Ghana.

Ghana celebrates its independence annually on Ghana Independence Day, marking the nation’s liberation from colonial rule on March 6, 1957. The day serves as a moment of reflection on the country’s journey toward freedom, democracy, and national development.

According to Hon. Ahmed, the 69th anniversary is not only a time for celebration but also an opportunity for citizens to renew their commitment to building a prosperous and peaceful nation.

Honouring the Sacrifices of Forefathers
In his message, the Oforikrom MCE emphasized the importance of remembering the sacrifices made by the pioneers of Ghana’s independence struggle.

“On this special day, we celebrate the courage and sacrifice of our forefathers who secured the freedom of our beloved Ghana,” he stated.

He noted that the independence struggle laid the foundation for the democratic and developmental path that the country continues to pursue today.

Hon. Ahmed encouraged citizens to draw inspiration from the determination and vision of the nation’s founding leaders, whose commitment to freedom and self-governance paved the way for the Ghana of today.

The MCE further called on Ghanaians to remain united despite differences in political, ethnic, or religious backgrounds.

“As we mark 69 years of independence, let us remain united, peaceful, and committed to the development of our municipality and nation,” he stressed.

He explained that unity remains a critical ingredient for national progress and sustainable development, particularly at a time when communities across the country are striving to expand opportunities for young people and improve living standards.

According to him, the progress of Ghana depends largely on the collective efforts of its citizens, including government institutions, private sector actors, and community members.

Hon. Ahmed reiterated his commitment to working with residents of the Oforikrom municipality to accelerate development and improve the quality of life for the people.
He noted that development at the local level plays a crucial role in achieving national transformation, stressing that municipal authorities must collaborate with stakeholders to deliver essential services and infrastructure.

He therefore encouraged residents of Oforikrom to actively support initiatives aimed at improving education, sanitation, security, and economic opportunities within the municipality.

Highlighting the importance of cooperation and hard work, the MCE expressed optimism about Ghana’s future.

“Together, through hard work and cooperation, we can build a brighter future for all,” he said.
He also reaffirmed his commitment to advancing development projects and policies that will benefit the people of Oforikrom while contributing to the broader progress of the country.

As Ghana celebrates 69 years of independence, Hon. Ahmed urged citizens to embrace the spirit of patriotism, unity, and dedication that inspired the nation’s founding fathers.

He concluded by encouraging Ghanaians to continue working collectively to strengthen the country’s democratic institutions, promote peace, and drive sustainable development for future generations.

The message was shared under the theme “Still The Jobs Dey Grounds,” reflecting the municipality’s focus on opportunities, development, and economic empowerment for the people.
