Oforikrom Municipal Assembly Hosts Community Clean-up Exercise On November 8

In a bid to maintain cleanliness and promote environmental sanitation within the municipality, the Oforikrom Municipal Assembly, through its environmental health department,will organize a community clean-up exercise.

The event, scheduled for Saturday, November 8th, 2025, is part of the assembly’s monthly sanitation initiatives aimed at fostering a clean and healthy environment for residents.

According to an invitation letter signed by Simon Agangiba, Municipal Environmental Health Officer on behalf of the Municipal Chief Executive, the clean-up exercise is designed to eliminate filth in designated areas within the municipality.

The activity will take place from 6:00 am to 11:00 am, with specific venues identified for the exercise.

Participants will be involved in cleaning areas from Tech-Junction to Top High and from Anloga Junction to Opoku Transport area.

During the exercise, all business activities within the affected areas are expected to remain closed, with the exception of food vendors and health facilities, which are permitted to operate. The Environmental Health Officers and Assembly members of the Oforikrom Municipal Assembly will oversee the clean-up in the affected communities.

The clean-up activities will include several key tasks aimed at improving the environmental conditions of the municipality.

These activities encompass:
1. Clearing the growth of weeds and wild grass.
2. Desilting of choked drains to ensure proper water flow and prevent flooding.
3. Sweeping of markets, public streets, lorry terminals, and open spaces to maintain cleanliness.
4. Collection of waste on the streets to the final disposal site for proper waste management.

The Oforikrom Municipal Assembly has respectfully informed and requested the participation of various stakeholders, including Hon. Assembly Members, Unit Committee Members, Assembly Staff, Party Members, and Opinion Leaders, in the upcoming exercise. The assembly counts on the usual cooperation of these groups to ensure the success of the event.
