President Mahama Heads to UNGA 80 in New York

President John Dramani Mahama has departed Accra for New York, USA, leading a high-level delegation to the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 80). The event is scheduled to commence on Tuesday, September 23, 2025.

President Mahama is slated to address the General Assembly on Thursday, September 25, 2025.

In his capacity as the African Union’s champion for financial institutions, President Mahama will host two significant side events.

His itinerary includes crucial bilateral meetings with the UN Secretary-General, various heads of state, and global leaders like the President of the Rockefeller Foundation.

President Mahama will engage with the US-Africa Chamber of Commerce and make a historic visit to NASDAQ, where he’ll ring the closing bell.

Accompanying President Mahama is First Lady Mrs. Lordina Dramani Mahama, who will attend and address side events organized by the Organization of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD).

The President’s delegation includes key officials like Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, Executive Secretary Dr. Callistus Mahama, and Minister for Foreign Affairs Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, among others.

President Mahama and his delegation are expected to return to Ghana on September 30, 2025.
