The National Executives of the Ghana National Council of Private Schools (GNACOPS) have organised a day’s workshop for over 200 private school Proprietors in Ashanti region.

It was held on Friday 14th May 2021 at the Kumasi Cultural Center and the focus was to offer proprietors a legal understanding on the implementation of Act 1023; Education Regulatory Bodies Act passed by Parliament.

According to officials of GNACOPS, there is the need for private schools who are partners of education to go through the legal interpretation of the provisions under the Act so as to strengthen their operations.

It was also a way of giving participants a wholistic understanding on how they can deal with the National Schools Inspectorate Authority (NSIA) and how to also work with the National Teaching Council in terms of teacher professionalism.

The workshop as explained by the Executive Director for GNACOPS Mr. Enoch Gyetuah is a national assignment.

The first was held in Accra followed by Ashanti region’s version.

From Ashanti region, officials will move to the remaining regions to replicate same.

At the workshop, properties were given hard copies of the Act for them to read through and ask questions on areas they don’t understand.

Mr Enoch Gyetuah explained in an interview with the media that with the knowledge acquired, participants will pass it on to their various district members who are under the council.

In his presentation at the event, he schooled them on how best they can go by the daily running of their schools.
