The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) Ashanti Regional Office has launched an initiative, “PURC @ the Bus Terminal,” aimed at educating consumers of electricity and water about the Commission’s mandate and services. The outreach program took place at the main bus terminal in Asante Bekwai, where about 300 drivers and passengers were engaged.

During the engagement, PURC officials informed consumers about the nature of complaints that can be lodged with the Commission and distributed contact leaflets to facilitate easy access to the Regional Office. This initiative seeks to bridge the gap between PURC and consumers, ensuring that citizens are aware of their rights and the services available to them.

As the regulator of public utilities in Ghana, PURC is responsible for ensuring that consumers receive quality services from utility providers. The Commission also handles consumer complaints and grievances, working to resolve issues in a fair and timely manner.

The “PURC @ the Bus Terminal” initiative is part of the Commission’s efforts to reach out to consumers in various parts of the country. By engaging with drivers and passengers at the Asante Bekwai bus terminal, PURC aims to increase awareness about its services and promote consumer empowerment.

The PURC Ashanti Regional Office’s outreach program at the Asante Bekwai bus terminal is a step in the right direction towards promoting consumer awareness and empowerment. By educating consumers about its mandate and services, PURC is working to ensure that citizens receive quality utility services and have access to effective complaint resolution mechanisms.
