The Royal family of Kuntenase-Edwenase in the Bosomtwe District of the Ashanti region has made a passionate appeal to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, to intervene in the destoolment of Nana Owusu Duampetri, the Chief of the community.
The family, led by Nana Kwasi Agyemang, the Head of the Edwenase Royal family and Caretaker of the community, held a press conference to express their concerns and plead for the Asantehene’s intervention.
According to Nana Agyemang, Nana Owusu Duampetri was destooled by the Paramount Chief of Kuntenase, Barimah Amankwah Aduna Ababio II, based on allegations made by their uncle, Mr. Yaw Barimah.
The allegations included selling land in the jurisdiction of Edwenase, evacuating the cemetery for private development, killing goats in the community, destroying the palace, and disrespect. However, the royal family vehemently denies these allegations, describing them as false and motivated by hatred.
The destoolment of Nana Owusu Duampetri has had a significant impact on the community, with development projects and initiatives coming to a standstill. The community has been without a substantive chief for some time, leading to a lack of direction and progress. Nana Agyemang expressed worry over the stagnant state of developmental projects and initiatives, citing the community’s struggle to get reconnected to the national grid after a recent electrical change.
On behalf of the community, Nana Agyemang is pleading with Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to reinstate Nana Owusu Duampetri, citing the need for a lasting peace and the total development of the community. The family believes that the Asantehene’s intervention will bring stability and progress to the community, allowing them to move forward with development projects and initiatives.
