Residents in communities like Agogoso,Biakwaso, Mensakrom,Asilevikrom,Anwona and among others in the Adansi Asokwa constituency in the Ashanti Region, have expressed worry and their utmost displeasure over lack of toilet facilities in the area.

The situation, according to them, has compounded the already disgusting insanitary conditions in the area, which has resulted in perennial outbreak of avoidable diseases, leading to loss of lives.

They blamed the situation on years of neglect by the Member of Parliament for the area (Hon KT Hammond)and revealed that they now use lavatory in this 21st Century.

This, they stated, has forced many to attend to nature’s call in the bush whilst others ease themselves into black polythene and dispose them of indiscriminately.

This appeal was made when the Ashanti regional chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress,Augustus Andrews, paid a visit to the communities to embark on what he described a retail campaign in the region.

Krontihene of Biakwaso and Agogoso communities disclosed that “their biggest problem here is lack of toilet facilities. We have no toilet in these towns, therefore, people defecate anyhow.”

They stressed the need for government to improve rural telephony network ,toilet and with motorable roads to attract investors to the area to create jobs for its teeming unemployed youth.

Responding to the appeals of the residents, Mr Augustus Andrews assured them of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama’s commitment to remedy the situation with infrastructural facilities in the area to uplift the living conditions of the people should he become the President of the Republic in January, 2025 .

He, however, called for support from the residents to help the NDC win both the parliamentary and Presidential election in 2024.

According to him Hon KT Hammond, the NPP Member of Parliament for the area has neglected them for the past 24 years so it is about time they vote for an NDC candidate in the person of Godwin Animli Dorgbadzi-Orani to change their development droughts.
