The Suame Municipal Assembly (SMA) in the Ashanti Region has unveiled it’s plans towards establishing a modern science and technology laboratory in it’s jurisdiction. The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Dr John Osei Bobie-Boahin, who disclosed this, said when completed, it will help students to judiciously utilize their precious time and prevent them from indulging in the modern gambling acts. The Municipal boss expressed his commitment towards supporting science and technological education with the required human and material resources. Dr Bobie-Boahin revealed these to media practitioners at Bremang in Kumasi, after visiting examination centers for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the municipality yesterday. The team of officials led by the MCE visited centers including Angel School Complex, Kronum D/A JHS Bremang and Methodist JHS. According to him, developed nations, invested in science and technology therefore the assembly will continue to initiate scientific related projects to uplift the image of the municipality adding the assembly cannot solely depend on the existing science laboratories in various schools. To even succeed in other disciplines, he said, it calls for in-depth knowledge in science and technology citing Arts as a typical example. ” I, as an educationist, though concentrated in Arts programmes, devoted my research works to science which forms the foundation of all the disciplines” Dr Bobie-Boahin said. Dr Bobie-Boahin debunked the perception that only science students have the ability to make scientific inventions. ” You don’t need to be a science student only before you can make scientific inventions” The MCE said. According to the MCE, students need to be both intrinsically and extrinsically motivated in order to unearth their God-giving talents. He described the future of the students as brighter and called on authorities to assist them to make good use of their abilities.Source :broadcastergh.com /Ayisah Foster Related Articles
