He emphasized that the NDC government should be commended for its efforts to preserve the forest and water bodies.

Mr Acquah specifically denied allegations that NDC Vice National Chairman, Yakubu Alhassan Abangah, and National Organizer, Joseph Yamin, are behind the illegal taskforce, which he said there is nothing like illegal mining taskforce operating in the forest.

He urged the NPP to report any such illegal operation activities to the police instead of making baseless accusations.

Mr Acquah reminded the public that President John Dramani Mahama has issued a directive to stop all illegal mining activities in the country.

He accused the NPP of trying to undermine the government’s efforts to combat illegal mining activities in the forest and around the water bodies.

The NDC has consistently maintained that it is committed to fighting illegal mining and protecting the environment.
