Troops Kill 31 Terrorists
The Defence Headquarters has said troops deployed for internal security operations killed 31 terrorists and arrested 81 others in one week.
The director, defence media operations, Major General Edward Buba who disclosed this in a statement on ongoing military operations by the armed forces in the past week, said the troops also arrested 11 suspected oil thieves, rescued 10 kidnapped hostages while 63 Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists and their families surrendered to troops across theaters of operation.
Troops in the Niger Delta area discovered and destroyed seven dugout pits, nine boats, 25 storage tanks, 39 cooking ovens, three pumping machines and 14 illegal refining sites.
They recovered 367,300 litres of stolen crude oil, 11,353 litres of illegally refined AGO, 12,500 litres of DPK and 5,000 litres PMS, he said.
General Buba restated that the ongoing military operations would continue to set the stage for social and economic progress, noting that the ultimate goal was to secure the country through the defeat of those threatening safety of citizens and perpetrating insecurity across the country.
