DISCLAIMER.
My attention has been brought to an article circulated by a Kumasi based fm, Pure95.7fm on its online portal that seeks to describe the current Acting National Chairman, Kenneth Kwame Asamoah, as an imposter.
The article also went on to say that he has been arrested by the Ashanti Central Police which are all untruth.
I urge the general public not to take seriously the unprofessional and amateurish journalism exhibited by Pure 95.7 fm. It is unfortunate the way this media station has decided to peddle untruth and tarnish the image of the whole acting National Chairman of the third biggest political party in Ghana.
It is the conduct of such media stations that tarnishes the reputation and good works of many a good media houses.
I must also state that the acting National Chairman was reported to the Kumasi Central Police by an embattled member of the party, Mr. Odike on who’s invitation the Chairman Ag. Went to the Central Police Station.
Upon reaching the police station, it was realized that Odike only used a junior officer to do his dirty work. However, Hon. Kwame Asamoah on the advice of NEC and the Police made a statement. Mr. Kwame Asamoah was asked to report back today, the 22 May, 2020.
It was during this meeting, which Mr. Odike was part that he secretly sent out this information.
I commend the police for their professionalism and how they have handled this situation.
I assure you that the UPP doesn’t take lightly the move by this media house (pure 95.7 fm) or any media house to bring the name of its acting National Chairman to disrepute and will seek redress at the appropriate quarters. We will not hesitate to use the law if need be.
I urge pure 95.7fm and any other media house running this story to immediately pull down this story from its platform and offer an unqualified apology or face the wrath of the party. The last I checked Libel is a grave crime under the 1992 constitution of the Republic of Ghana.
