Kenneth Nana Kwame Asamoah , National Chairman of United Progressive Party has donated food items to the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu to support their month-long fast yesterday.
The items were cartons of assorted drinks ,bags of rice, milk ,Milo, cartons of bottled water, gallons of oil, sugar among others .
The possible 2020 flagbearere in an interview with the media said the donation was in fulfilment of his mission of reaching out to Muslims and appealed to them to emerge from the Ramadan fast with peace, unity and commitment to nation-building.
He said: “I am committed to caring for the poor people in society, share equal concern and commitment to ensure that the needy are well catered for.”
He said the occasion was also to formally let the Chief Imam know of United Progressive Party as one of the political parties who have Muslim at heart and is well posed to to fulfill the needs of Ghanaians.
According to him,very soon UPP will lay it vision bare to show why UPP has to be considered to lead the country.
Kenneth Nana Kwame Asamoah appealed to Muslims to use the period of the Ramadan to pray for the peace of the country.
Chief Imam however expressed gratitude to UPP for the gesture and said it would enable them to go through the fast peacefully.
