The Ghana Coalition of Non-Governmental Organizations in Water and Sanitation (CONIWAS) has fixed the 2024 MOLE Conference at Ho Volta Region from October 6th to 11th.
Ms. Beata Awinpoka Akanyani, Chairperson of CONIWAS, stated that as the global community intensifies its efforts to meet the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), there is a growing recognition of the vital importance of Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) services.
This year, the prestigious Mole XXXV WASH Conference is scheduled to take place from October 6th to October 11th, 2024, in the scenic Volta Region, specifically in Ho, Volta Region.
“With a rich history of facilitating impactful dialogues and collaborations, this event promises to be an enlightening experience for all attendees,” Ms. Awinpoka Akanyani stated during interaction for media practitioners.
The Mole Conference, renowned for its cutting-edge discussions and showcases, will bring together esteemed professionals from around the world to share pioneering research, insights, and solutions.
Ms. Awinpoka Akanyani, in a statement available to the Communication for Development and Advocacy (CDA Consult), communicate2develop@gmail.com, which is a development communication advocacy non-governmental organization based in Tema, Ghana, has revealed.
The event will feature keynote presentations, panel discussions, interactive sessions, exhibitions, and a platform for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and networking at the just-ended 2024 Ghana WASH Week observance.
She said at the heart of this push is the Mole WASH Conference, an annual gathering that brings together WASH practitioners, policymakers, researchers, and stakeholders from across the globe to share insights and innovations and chart the course forward for the sector.
CONIWAS was established to contribute to the management of water resources and the sustainable provision of water, sanitation, and hygiene services in Ghana.
“The exact dates and venue for the conference will be announced in the coming weeks. Mark your calendars for the second week of October and get ready to be a part of this revolutionary event,” Ms. Awinpoka Akanyani stated.
“Stay tuned for further updates and registration information. Don’t miss out on the chance to be a part of the 2024 MOLE Conference,” the CONIWAS Chairperson stressed.
The MOLE conference series, first organized in 1989 by a group of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), has become the main rallying platform for discussing issues related Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH).
This feat has been attained due to the tenacity of purpose, commitment, and dynamic leadership exhibited by the trailblazers, and subsequently, CONIWAS leads the effective collaboration with other key players, including central and local government institutions, development partners, academic and research institutions, and the private sector, among others.
Consistent with the coalition’s mission of working in partnership with relevant stakeholders to influence policies, remove barriers, and promote access to safe WASH for the poor and vulnerable.
This year’s event will set the agenda and commence a national dialogue aimed at holding the government and other duty-bearers accountable for their commitments to WASH and changing the narrative regarding the approach to the delivery of sustainable WASH services in Ghana.
The conference will attract the participation of the following stakeholders and actors, including ministries, departments, and agencies: legislators, development partners, academia, research institutions, non-governmental organizations, and the Media Coalition Against Open Defecation (M-CODe).
Others are community-based organisations, faith-based organisations, civil society organizations, the private sector, and media practitioners.
