Even though, the District Assembly through the District planning officer,Mr.Emmauel Agyei and his team has gone to the community to meet the stakeholders including the two Assembly members; Hon.Ernest Appiah Darko,Akotoso Abrato Electoral and Hon.Kofi Adade,Assembly member for Dedease electoral area, traditional authorities  respectively over the matter but there is still misunderstanding over the matter.

According to the District planning officer, as far as the assembly is concerned the issue has been resolved .The Planning officer said the demarcation of boundary documented used in his presentation at said meeting emanated from the Electoral Commission and after his presentation apart from Hon.Kofi Adade, no one has any issue as far as the matter is concerned.

EC’s letter

The Planning officer said Hon.Kofi Adade after the said meeting has raised similar concerned allegedly that the demarcation document from the Electoral Commission contains different polling station codes. Moreover, it is also in hand written hence he can’t accept the originality of the document.

That as a public officer, he has no personal interest in the matter and he was only delegated by the District Chief Executive (DCE),Hon.Addai Agyekum to meet the stakeholders and explained things to them based on the Electoral Commission’s document.

Meanwhile, in a reply letter dated 23rdJuly,2020 with reference number EC/SKD/04 address to the Assembly Member, Dedease electoral area, Sekyere Kumawu District Ashanti and copied to the District Chief Executive, Sekyere Kumawu District Assembly, Ashanti written by the District Electoral Officer states the position of the Commission on the matter.

Hon.Ernest Appiah Darko,Assembly member for Akotoso Abrato

The letter entitled “RE-REQUEST FOR OFFICIAL DEMARCATION BETWEEN DEDEASE ELECTORAL AREA AND AKOTOSO ABRATO ELECTORAL AREA”, reads “The District Office of Electoral Commission wishes to acknowledge receipt of your letter dated 18th February,2020 on the above subject matter.

The issue as raised in the letter is the sole reserve of the Traditional Authorities of the two electoral areas and /or the District Assembly.I would therefore like you to approach them to resolve this matter.Thank you.Signed Regina Tackey,Electoral Officer.

The Assembly member for Dedease electoral area, Hon.Kofi Adade when contacted admitted that he together with many community members are not happy about the issue and would follow it up until the right thing is done.

He said he suspect there is an agenda to deprive his electoral area what is Fairley due them in terms of demarcation of boundaries of the two electoral areas and calls for full probe into the matter to resolve the boundary of the two electoral areas.

According to him, the polling station codes as presented by the District Planning Officer which he said came from the Electoral Commission’s office doesn’t patch up with original code numbers the same EC has been using for the same polling station centres.

He said for Dedease Salvation Army primary school polling station, the known code is F300801 But the document the planning officer said he sourced from the EC mentioned F250701

For Dedease L/A Primary school polling station code of F300802, the planning officer presented 250704.Hon.Dedase said for Akotosu Booth polling station code F300901, the documented presented to them was F260702 and for L/A JHS Polling station code of F300902 the code presented to them at the meeting was F250703 and he and his constituents are still not convinced but the explanation.

He is therefore appealing to the District Chief Executive to summon the District Electoral Officer personally for a meeting over the matter to avoid any further agitations.

Meanwhile, Hon.Ernest Appiah Darko,Akotoso Abrato Electoral on his part has stated that as far as he is also concerned there is no issue about the boundaries because nothing has  been changed

.That during a recent meeting over the demarcation of the boundaries , the District Planning Officer made it clearly to them all in the present of the queen mother of Dedease and other traditional authorities based on the EC’s document that the two toilet facilities, Hon.Kofi Adade is claiming belong to his electoral area is not true.

Hon.Darko said he even challenged and continue to challenge him(Hon.Kofi Adade) that if he still doesn’t understand it he can pursue the matter in  Supreme Court. However, he was still ready anytime to meet nananoms and District Assembly officials and other stakeholders till his colleague understand the issues.

That, he together with some traditional leaders during the meeting made it clearly to Hon.Kofi Adade that EC’s demarcation is different from traditional area boundaries and that ,the fact that some polling stations of Akrotoso Abrato has been sighted in Dadease electoral area doesn’t means that Dadease is under Akrotoso Abrato traditionally but still he (Hon.Adade) doesn’t understand it.

Hon.Darko again stated unequivocally that, the 2 toilet facilities per the EC’s demarcation of the electoral areas in the area indicates that, the facilities are in Akrotoso Abrato electoral area.Stay tuned for further development of the story! story by a news desk report
