Scores of residents in the Asante Akyem North constituency in the Ashanti Region have taken to social media and conventional media to tease their Member of Parliament, Andy Appiah Kubi for placing 262nd on the ratings of performance of Members of Parliament.
The research speculated to have been conducted by Professor Owusu Mensah at the Presidency had the Asante Akyem North MP scoring in relationship with residents, poor in expectations of him and also poor in his handling of development projects.
Discussing the issue, Antwi Bosiako, a resident of Agogo said he was not surprised at the position of Andy Appiah Kubi, his MP.
He noted that after promising and lying his way to Parliament, the MP also lied on his feet when he claimed some projects which were not in existence as his, adding that the results is clear now.
DETAILS:
Prince Agyeman from Owerriman, radio producer said the rating of their MP was bad and that is testament of his character and performance.
He noted that from the methodology used by the Research Group for 29 days and the sample size, anyone who is resident in Agogo or any other part of the constituency would score the MP same way.
He noted that the MP was not accessible and does not delight in involving his constituents in any decision making enterprise.
Abena Sarbeng,a farmer from Pekyerekye said the MP scarcely vists and shows concern for the needs of residents, adding she was not surprised at the poor showing.
CONTROVERSY:
Some of the residents also believed that aside the bad showing of their MP he could have helped himself by staying focused on the mandate given to him.
They said rather than push for the constituency’s development, Andy Appiah Kubi chose to champion an agenda against the Finance Minister.
They wondered why an incumbent MP should lead the onslaught against his own government’s representative at the Finance Ministry.
Others also said the MP had become bitter against the President for not reassigning him to the Railway Ministry in his second term and that is reason their MP is against everything government does.
Yaw Boakye, a taxi driver at Owerriman told this reporter that the controversial posture of their MP would cost the constituency the development they deserve since government would not naturally advance projects to a place where the MP does not appreciate its efforts.
