Hon. Abubakar Sedik, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahafo Ano South West , on Tuesday, January 5, 2026, joined the Muslim community of Mankranso at a fundraising programme organised to support Islamic activities in the area.

Speaking as the guest speaker, Hon. Abubakar Sedik underscored the importance of responsibility and good leadership, describing his position as the first Muslim DCE in the District as a trust that must be protected.

He noted that his conduct in office should serve as a positive example and not hinder the chances of other capable Muslims who may be given similar opportunities in the future.

He used the platform to dispel negative perceptions about Zongo communities, stressing that Zongo youth are not inclined towards political violence.

Rather, he emphasised that they are active participants in mainstream politics and continue to occupy important and high-ranking positions across the country.

According to him, the youth from Zongo communities contribute meaningfully to national development and should be recognised for their peaceful nature and commitment to democratic values.

In support of the Islamic activities, Hon. Abubakar Sedik, together with Chairman Koo Broni, the NDC Chairman for the Ahafo Ano South West Constituency, made a cash donation of Twelve Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH₵12,000) to support the fundraising effort.

The DCE was accompanied by Mr Solomon Dumong, Constituency Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Mr Paul Kwesi Amegboe, the Constituency Youth Organiser of the NDC.

The Muslim community expressed their appreciation to the delegation for their presence, words of encouragement and generous support. They prayed for the Hon DCE and pledged continued prayers for peace and development in the District and the nation at large.
