Commercial drivers in the country have been asked to reduce transport fares following the reduction in fuel prices.

The Second Vice Chairman for Suame Constituency of New Patriotic Party, Mr Richard Asante, who gave the caution, described it as unfair and unreligious for drivers to maintain their fares despite the reduction of fuel prices.

Speaking to the media in Kumasi, Mr Asante, said failure to do so by next week, he will mobilize passengers to embark on demonstration by blocking roads as the drivers did before increasing their fares.

Mr Asante disclosed that passengers agreed for drivers to increase their fares when a liter of petrol hit gh18 and diesel was little above gh20 per litter.

According to him, surprisingly, petrol and diesel have considerably reduced but drivers have refused to reduce fares accordingly.
