The Director General of Ghana Health Service, Dr. Anthony Nsiah Asare has lauded  Ejurahene, Barima Osei Hwedie ll, in the Ejura Sekyere-Dumase Municipality of the Ashanti region for his outstanding leadership and concern for the welfare of health workers in area . He said  that, the health of health personnel is key to the functionality of the health sector.  This he said is in consonance with the government of Ghana’s agenda to make every district in the country to have a functional hospital.  The functional hospital initiative includes upgrading the capacity of all district hospitals with critical equipment, doctors and other health professionals to be able to provide all essential health services to clients whilst carrying out routine monitoring and supervision at lower level health facilities to ensure that quality care is provided to clients, and timely referrals are made.  This, according to him is geared towards improving maternal and child health, and to achieve the sustainable development goals before the 2030 deadline.  He also stated that, staff working in deprived and rural areas should not give up as there are special packages including further educational opportunities and financial remunerations for them.  He cited the “Fly to save a life project” popularly known as the “Drone” delivery system and “Telemedicine” as other initiatives of the health sector to ensure that people living in deprived areas would be able to have access to essential health services. Dr. Nsiah-Asare therefore called on all traditional leaders and stakeholders to support efforts geared towards providing safe accommodation, education and other basic needs to health workers and their families in order to motivate them to render quality health services to all clients. He encouraged all staff to keep developing their professional knowledge and skills on current health practices in order to distinguish themselves in the field.  The Director General also charged the management of the Ejura Hospital to put in measures that will encourage staff to take charge of their health by renewing their National Health Insurance, going for regular check-ups, and enrolling on additional health insurance schemes for themselves.  He concluded by calling on all staff to continue the good work with dedication, commitment and hardworking to save lives.Source:broadcastergh.com /Ayisah Foster
