Bilal Muazu Sulemana, the Deputy Director of Traders and Artisans Network of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has cautioned members of the umbrella fraternity particularly the youth, against using dubious means of advancing their political tentacles in enjoying a better life.
Mr Sulemana, who was a former Bono East Regional Youth Organiser, reiterated that using dubious means to gain political power and assert is utterly undemocratic, adding that it undermes the principles of democracy and the quest for competent leadership.
“Killing for power is sadly a national embarrassment and should not be tolerated in Ghana,” Mr. Bilal declared, urging NDC members to uphold the party’s values of integrity and respect for human life.”
Expressing concern over the alleged poisoning of the MP for Ejusu and the deputy finance minister, John Kumah, Mr. Bilal called upon the leadership and supporters of the NDC to remain vigilant and very circumspect thus to reject any form of violence or foul play.
Interacting with some party fanatics on March 19, 2024, Mr Bilal disclosed that the importance of the NDC setting a positive example for the nation and the world, particularly in promoting discipline and strengthening democracy within political parties.
“For the NDC, power should be a means to advance democracy and foster development for all Ghanaians, rather than a tool for violence and victimization,” Mr. Bilal affirmed.
He urged the rank and file of the party to trade unity and solidarity within the NDC, underscoring that a cohesive party is essential for securing victory in the upcoming 2024 general elections.
“As Ghana prepares for another pivotal election cycle, Mr. Bilal urged NDC members to remain steadfast in their commitment to democratic ideals and reject any attempts to undermine the democratic process through violence or foul play.” he added
He urged young upcoming politicians to adhere strictly to democratic principles which serves as a timely reminder for all political actors in Ghana to prioritize the well-being of the nation and its citizens above narrow partisan interests.
