Prioritize Sanitation, Water in your manifesto, GAMA Project Coordinator to political parties

Ing. George Asiedu,The Project Coordinator for the Greater Accra Metropolitan Area Sanitation and Water Project (GAMA SWP), has tasked the political parties in the country to prioritize Sanitation and Water attention in their manifestoes ahead of the 2024 general election.
According to him, any manifesto that does not prioritize sanitation and water is not a good manifesto.
Speaking at the commissioning of the Centre for Training of Artisans in the Construction and Installation of Biodigester Household Toilet at the Ada College of Education, he emphasize that, a manifestos that does not recognize Sanitation and Water as most important input towards the upcoming general elections is not a good manifesto.
Ing. Asiedu took the opportunity to urged the political parties to make sure they factor water and sanitation in their manifestos to help address the total socioeconomic challenges in the country.
He disclosed that, having led the Greater Accra Metropolitan Area Sanitation and Water Project with the help of the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources played a key role in the improvement of sanitation in the country.
The GAMA Project Coordinator expressed the view that, the hard work of the Sanitation and Water Ministry has seen Ghana’s sanitation coverage increase to around 25.3% and jump from the 15% recorded in 2015.
Ing. George Asiedu believes that despite the gains, the country needs to make additional investments in sanitation and water sector.
He stressed that, they have gotten this far because government prioritized sanitation, and for that matter, the Ministry was established to focus on water and sanitation, adding that, as a country we still have a long way to go and need to do more.
