Amoamanhene Orders Encroachers On Barekese Forest Reserve to Keep Off

506

Chief of Amoaman, Dr. Nana Agyenim Boateng has ordered farmers and private developers who have encroached the Barekese Forest Reserve to keep off.

Same directive applies to lands in the enclave, which years back were occupied by natives of Asuminya, Kokoben, Amisare, Tontokrom, among other communities but were resettled to Asuofua by the Ghana Water Company Limited.

The coming into force of the above directive follows the ongoing sale of lands in the said area by perpetrators to private developers and farmers.

Owing to a dispute of the right of ownership of the area between the Chief of Amoaman and Traditional leaders of Kokoben/Tontokrom, a ruling has been passed by the Asantehene that all parties stay off until a final determination is made.

Notwithstanding the forgoing, perpetrators have brushed under carpet the above ruling, and so far encroaching and putting up permanent structures in the area irrespective of the fact that Ghana Water Company after resettling them paid to them compensation.

Intelligence picked by this medium indicates that, persons engaged in the illegality per their modus operandi make sale of the lands in the name of the Chief of Amoaman.

Speaking to newsman, the Chief of Amoaman, Nana Agyenim Boateng denied flatly, saying he has not sold out lands or instructed anyone to sell land or lands in the area to private developer or given out same to any farmer.

He described the modus-operandi of perpetrators as an attempt to tarnish his image.

“I have severally issued warning to developers and farmers who have encroached the area to keep off until a final ruling is made by Asantehene.

They failed to comply until a surprise swoop was carried out by the Forestry Commission and NADMO officials on Tuesday, 30th July, 2024.

I’m through this medium reiterating, that all persons working within the forest enclave and lands which were occupied by resettled communities should stay away.

All developers should stop until a final ruling is made by Asantehene.

Whoever works in the area does so at his or her own peril”.
