Treasurer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Charles Dwamena, popularly known as Dr. ‘China,’ is much disappointed about the results of election 2024.
Dr China who rallied members of the party to strengthen their support for the party and its flagbearer, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, ahead of the 2024 general elections cannot believe the outcome if the results after the declaration of the Electoral Commission, Madam Jean Mensah.
Speaking on Ashh FM and monitored by this online portal, Dr China emphasised that the outcome is a shock and has humbled all NPP members.
“The results has shown that there’s a big vacuum in our party so is about time to learn a good lesson from the 2024 results so that we can restructure things to bounce back in election 2028.” He told the host.
“Leaders of the party have seen our shortfalls and they are putting measures together to re-energize the grassroot and party members to build a united front for the betterment of the party.” He re-assured.
According to him , their delegate system is their major challenge which they need to address.
He was of the view that they way they chose their parliamentary candidates is not helping because it is only the highest bidder who has the opportunity to win elections during primary.
This he said isn’t giving the opportunity to people who can serve and has the constituents at heart to lead the party in the constituency.
Again, the action he said also annoys electorates who are not delegates to vote against them during general elections because delegates are giving higher amount of money during primaries and they expect the general public to vote for them for free during general elections.
He promised that the New Patriotic Party has realized their mistakes and are going to work on it to build a formidable party going forward.
