A freelance journalist, Francis Frempong-Manson, popularly known as Nkosuohene, has appealed to the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, and the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Asante Akim South, Maame Sarfoah Appiah, to urgently intervene in the rehabilitation of the deplorable Obogu–Odubi–Komeso road and other roads within Obogu township.
He said the poor condition of the roads had become a major concern for residents, drivers, traders and other road users, making transportation difficult and affecting economic activities in the affected communities.
According to him, the road linking Obogu through Odubi to Komeso has deteriorated considerably, creating difficulties for motorists and other commuters who depend on it for their daily activities.
He noted that the situation required urgent attention from the relevant authorities to ease the transportation difficulties confronting residents and improve accessibility within the area.
Mr Frempong-Manson, who is also known as Nkosuohene, said the deplorable state of the road was not only inconveniencing commuters but could also undermine the development of the communities if the necessary interventions were not undertaken.
He therefore called on the Ashanti Regional Minister and the Asante Akim South MCE to prioritise the road and support measures towards its rehabilitation.
ECONOMIC IMPLICATIONS
Mr Frempong-Manson observed that improving the road would bring significant relief to residents of Obogu, Odubi, Komeso and neighbouring communities, particularly traders and motorists who rely on the route to transport goods and access essential services.
He explained that the road was important to the movement of people and goods within the area, stressing that its rehabilitation would help improve connectivity and promote economic activities.
He further pointed out that the road from Komeso connects directly to Akim Oda, making the route important for inter-community travel and trade.
According to him, rehabilitating the Obogu–Odubi–Komeso stretch would make travelling easier, improve access between communities and strengthen commercial links between the affected areas.
He said improved road infrastructure could also help reduce the difficulties encountered by drivers and passengers while facilitating the transportation of agricultural produce and other goods.
CALL FOR URGENT INTERVENTION
The journalist appealed to the two government officials to arrange an inspection of the affected roads to assess their condition and determine the necessary rehabilitation works.
He stressed that attention should not be limited to the main road linking Obogu, Odubi and Komeso but should also extend to roads within Obogu township, which he said were equally in need of improvement.
Mr Frempong-Manson expressed the hope that the appeal would receive the necessary attention and lead to concrete steps towards addressing the road challenges confronting the communities.
He maintained that rehabilitating the roads would improve transportation, facilitate trade and contribute to the overall development of the area.
He said the intervention would be greatly appreciated by residents and other road users who continue to depend on the routes for their daily activities.
The appeal comes amid growing concerns about the importance of accessible road networks in promoting local economic development, improving mobility and connecting communities to essential services.
Residents of Obogu, Odubi, Komeso and surrounding communities stand to benefit from improved road infrastructure, particularly through easier movement of people and goods and better access to neighbouring towns.
