A man, believed to be between 35 to 40 years old, has been found dead, hanging from a mango tree behind a warehouse at Daa in the Bekwai Municipality of the Ashanti Region. The discovery was made by a passerby on Monday, January 6, 2025, who reported the incident to the community’s unit committee.
According to Ofa Yaw, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) and advisor to the unit committee, the body was found in a decayed state with the eyes removed and the skin peeling off the head. The police were notified, and upon arrival, they sought medical advice. Doctors determined that the body had been hanging for almost two weeks and advised that it be buried immediately.
Speaking to OTEC news reporter, Sarkodie Samuel, the PRO revealed that the police obtained a court order to bury the body, which was subsequently laid to rest at the community’s cemetery.
However, the deceased remains unidentified, and the family has yet to come forward. The community is urging anyone who has a missing family member to contact 0546062832.
The Ashanti South Police Command is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
