The Kusasi Chief of the Ashanti Region and Head of the Kadi Divisional Area in Binduri, Abdul-Malik Azenbe, was shot and killed on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, by unidentified gunmen in a targeted attack. The incident occurred around 8:40 p.m. at his residence near the Asawase F-line Community Centre.
The Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Emmanuel Teye-Cudjoe, has launched a full-scale investigation into the murder. He visited the bereaved family to express condolences and assure them that every effort will be made to track down the perpetrators.
Police have intensified security in the area and are appealing to the public to provide any information that could aid in the arrest of the assailants. The community is in shock and mourning, with many calling for swift action to prevent further violence ².
Chief Azenbe was enskinned as Kadi Naaba just three months ago and was recognized for his efforts to unify the Kusasi community in the Ashanti Region. His death has sent shockwaves through both the Asawase and Binduri communities .
The police urge anyone with relevant information to contact the nearest police station or call emergency lines 191, 18555, or 112. The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Ebenezer Mortuary in Tafo for autopsy .
