Leaders Converge on Manhyia Palace for Otumfuo’s 6th Akwasidae Celebration

The Ashanti Regional NDC Chairman, Augustus Andrews Nana Kwasi, Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, and Kumasi Mayor, Richard Ofori Agyeman Boadi, joined His Royal Majesty, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, to mark the 6th Akwasidae celebration at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.

The occasion was also attended by the Regional Security Council (REGSEC).

The gathering reaffirms the shared commitment to tradition, unity, and the enduring values of the rich Ashanti heritage.

The attendance of prominent leaders, including Dr. Frank Amoakohene and Richard Ofori Agyeman Boadi, underscores the significance of the Akwasidae festival in Ashanti culture.

Akwasidae festivals are an integral part of Ashanti tradition, held every 42 days to honor the ancestors and seek their blessings.

As Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene has been instrumental in driving development initiatives in the region. Notably, he inaugurated a Ministerial Committee on Sanitation and City Greening, aimed at restoring Kumasi to its former glory as the “Garden City”.

Akwasidae festivals bring together people from across the country and beyond to celebrate Ashanti culture and tradition. The event features cultural and traditional displays, with the king taking his seat among traditional rulers and royals to receive guests.
