Chief of Staff Julius Debrah Backs Trans-African Tourism and Unity Campaign

The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, has pledged government support to the Trans-African Tourism and Unity Campaign, a 163-day journey across 39 African countries aimed at promoting a borderless Africa.

The campaign seeks to break down visa barriers, boost intra-African tourism, and drive economic growth, youth empowerment, and cross-border collaboration .

The initiative aims to unite Africans around the vision of using a single currency and achieving a borderless continent, aligning with the African Union’s Agenda 2063 vision for a united and prosperous continent.

The campaign will cover approximately 40,000 kilometers or 600 hours of driving, making stops in 14 countries, including Chad, Niger, Algeria, Morocco, Mauritania, Senegal, The Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Côte d’Ivoire, and Burkina Faso, before returning to Ghana.

Julius Debrah assured the team of government support, emphasizing the importance of staying in touch with Ghanaian missions abroad.

Hon Debrah urged the team to prioritize security, advising them to avoid spending the night in isolated areas and to plan their itinerary accordingly.

He also emphasized the need for thorough logistical preparations, including spare tires, extra brake pads, brake fluid, and medication to avoid unnecessary delays.

The Chief of Staff highlighted the economic potential of tourism, noting that Africa generates over $190 billion annually from tourism. He believes that a visa-free policy could double this revenue, boosting local economies and creating jobs .
