The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has urged residents and stakeholders in the Asokore Mampong Municipality to collaborate with security operatives to promote lasting peace and development.
Dr. Amoakohene emphasized that peace is crucial for development, stating, “Without a peaceful coexistence and environment, there can be no sustainable development.”
During a familiarization tour in the municipality , Dr. Amoakohene assured the residents that the government is committed to ensuring their taxes are utilized effectively in providing infrastructure and social amenities to improve their living standards.
He disclosed that 80% of Assemblies Common Fund has been disbursed.
“The government has disbursed about 80% of the Assemblies Common Fund to the Assemblies, and Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives will be held accountable for their stewardship.” He said.
The government has awarded 22 new road contracts in the Ashanti region and 12 school project contracts to be constructed through the emergency fund.
All road contracts will be completed, except those under investigation for alleged double payment.
The Nananom and Zongo Chiefs of Asokore Mampong expressed concerns over the indiscriminate killings of their wards and requested:
– Enhanced Security: Beefing up security in the Municipality to prevent further killings.
– Completion of Abandoned Projects: Completing abandoned schools and Agenda 111 projects.
– Market Facility: Constructing a market facility at Asokore Mampong.

This development comes against the backdrop of recent security measures implemented in the region, including a curfew for motorbikes and increased security presence in hotspot areas.
