Professor Edward Brenya Appointed Chairman of Kumasi Technical University Governing Council

Professor Edward Brenya, a renowned scholar and policy analyst from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Governing Council of Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) by His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama.

This appointment is a testament to the visionary leadership of His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, and the impact of the Otumfuo Education Fund in producing experts and scholars who are contributing to Ghana’s development.

Professor Brenya is a beneficiary of the prestigious Ohio University scholarship, awarded by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, which enabled him to pursue his Master’s and PhD in the United States.

As an Associate Professor in the Department of History and Political Studies at KNUST, Professor Brenya has demonstrated exceptional academic prowess and leadership skills.

He coordinates the Master of Public Administration (MPA) programme at the Institute of Distance Learning and has served as the Administrative Manager of the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Education Fund.

In his new role, Professor Brenya is expected to spearhead KsTU’s ongoing transformation agenda, driving reforms in governance, research commercialization, academic-industry collaboration, and community engagement.

He has emphasized his commitment to strengthening institutional accountability and enhancing research productivity to position KsTU as a leading centre of technical and professional education in Ghana and beyond.

The appointment of Professor Brenya is a well-deserved recognition of his expertise and contributions to academia and public service. It is a tribute to the enduring legacy of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II’s commitment to education and development in Ghana.
