The Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (ARCC) has announced the upcoming launch of the Nkoko Nkitinkiti initiative, a programme aimed at promoting backyard poultry keeping to improve nutrition, food security, and sustainable livelihoods in the Ashanti Region.

The launch, scheduled for Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at the Jubilee Park in Kumasi, will be led by President John Dramani Mahama, who will be joined by Hon. Eric Opoku, Agric Minister and Member of Parliament.

The Nkoko Nkitinkiti initiative is designed to support households in rearing poultry, with up to 50 live birds to be distributed to individuals who apply through their local assemblies. The programme also offers technical and logistical support to those interested in commercial-scale poultry production.

According to the ARCC, the initiative aims to empower households, create jobs, and promote food self-sufficiency in the region. The launch is expected to attract a large turnout, with special arrangements being made for registered commercial poultry producers.

The public is invited to attend and support the launch, which is seen as a significant step towards improving food security and promoting sustainable livelihoods in the Ashanti Region.
