The District Chief Executive for Ahafo Ano South West in the Ashanti Region,Hon. Abubakar Sedik, has commended Wiowso Senior High School for its remarkable impact on education in the district.
Speaking at the school’s 10th anniversary celebration, Hon. Sedik praised the institution’s commitment to empowering learners in rural communities through education and agriculture.
The event, held under the theme “A Decade of Growth, Empowering Learners in Rural Communities Through Education and Agriculture,” brought together traditional leaders, educators, students, and stakeholders to celebrate the school’s achievements and reaffirm their commitment to supporting its growth.
In his address, Hon. Sedik announced that the government has absorbed Wiowso Senior High School, and 69 teaching and non-teaching staff would be put on the government’s payroll.
He pledged the district assembly’s continuous collaboration with the school to strengthen educational infrastructure and opportunities for learners.
“We are proud of the impact Wiowso Senior High School has made in our district, and we are committed to working with the school to ensure that our children receive the best possible education,” Hon. Sedik said.
Traditional leaders, led by Nana Assaw Ababio, contributed GH₵6,000 to support the school’s development initiatives. Nana Baah, a philanthropist, donated GH₵5,000 and five laptops to boost the school’s ICT resources.
The event featured a well-organized awards ceremony, where outstanding students, teachers, and non-teaching staff were recognized for their hard work, dedication, and contribution to the school’s growth. The celebration concluded with cultural performances and expressions of gratitude to all who have supported the school over the years.
In his address, Christopher Bielenberg, Board Chairman of Alma Mater Education (AME), commended the school for its remarkable progress over the past decade and reaffirmed the Foundation’s commitment to supporting rural education in Ghana.
He expressed gratitude to the government, traditional leaders, and stakeholders for their support. He highlighted the school’s achievements, including its growth in student enrollment and academic performance.
The 10th anniversary celebration was a testament to the power of education and community partnership in transforming lives and promoting development in rural areas. As Wiowso Senior High School continues to grow and thrive, it is expected to remain a beacon of hope for the people of Ahafo Ano South West District and beyond.
