Kennedy Ohene Agyepong, a leading contender in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) today concluded presidential primary, has made a passionate appeal for unity and collective effort as the party prepares for the 2024 general elections.

Speaking shortly after conceding defeat in the keenly contested primary, the outspoken former Assin Central Member of Parliament urged his supporters and party faithful to put aside disappointment and divisive slogans, stressing that the ultimate goal remains victory for the NPP in 2028.

“Don’t say ‘No Ken, No Vote,’” Mr. Agyepong admonished. “We need to work as one party. This is not about one individual but about the future of the New Patriotic Party and the nation we seek to govern.”

According to him, while the outcome of the primary may not have gone in his favour, it should not be interpreted as the end of the road for either himself or the party.

In a reflective tone, Mr. Agyepong acknowledged the emotional weight of defeat but encouraged resilience and renewed commitment to the party’s broader mission.

“The worst may have happened, but that does not mean it is the end of life,” he said, drawing applause from supporters who had gathered to hear his post-election remarks.

“Politics, like life, comes with wins and losses. What matters most is how we respond when things do not go our way.”
Mr. Agyepong commended the party leadership and delegates for conducting a largely peaceful and credible electoral process, noting that internal democracy remains one of the NPP’s strongest assets. He further called on his supporters across the country to rally behind the party’s flagbearer and contribute meaningfully to the campaign ahead.

“We have a bigger battle ahead—the 2028 general election,” he stated. “Our focus must now shift from internal competition to presenting a united front capable of retaining power and continuing the development agenda of the NPP.”
The former presidential aspirant also reiterated his unwavering loyalty to the party, assuring leadership of his readiness to play any role that would strengthen the NPP’s chances in the upcoming national polls. He emphasized that personal ambition must never be placed above party interest.

Mr. Agyepong’s conciliatory message could help ease post-primary tensions and foster cohesion within the party, particularly among grassroots supporters who were deeply invested in his candidacy.

As the NPP regroups following the primary, calls for unity such as this are expected to play a crucial role in shaping the party’s campaign strategy and internal harmony ahead of what is projected to be a highly competitive 2028 general election.

With his appeal for togetherness and resilience, Kennedy Agyepong has signaled a willingness to move beyond defeat and contribute to a common cause—urging all party members to stand together and face the future as one united force.
