In a strategic move aimed at strengthening its grassroots base and expanding its electoral appeal ahead of the 2026 political cycle, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially announced a nationwide membership registration drive.

The exercise, spearheaded by the party’s National Chairman, Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia, and strongly supported in Amenfi West Constituency in the Western Region by the 2026 Chairman hopeful, Mr. Nuhu Toppoh, seeks to identify, register, and integrate new and committed members into the party’s structure as part of broader efforts to position the NDC for victory in the next general elections.

The announcement comes at a crucial moment as political parties across the country intensify preparations for the next phase of Ghana’s democratic process. Branded under the theme “Winning Team,” the registration drive goes beyond routine record-keeping and represents a deliberate effort to modernize the party’s membership database while tapping into the growing enthusiasm of the youth and first-time voters, particularly within the Amenfi West Constituency.

Addressing party faithful, Mr. Toppoh popularly known as “Chairman 2026” underscored the importance of a strong, united, and active membership base, describing it as the backbone of the NDC’s electoral strength.

Clad in the party’s iconic green, white, red, and black colours, he delivered a message of inclusion, organization, and readiness to govern.

“To build a nation that works for everyone, we must first build a party that is inclusive, organized, and prepared to lead,” he said. “We are calling on all Ghanaians who share our vision of social justice and economic prosperity to join us.”

To ensure efficiency and maximum participation, the party has outlined a clearly defined registration period:
Commencement Date: Tuesday, February 10, 2026.

Closing Date: Monday, March 30, 2026
Venue: Designated registration centres across all electoral areas in the Amenfi West Constituency.

The emphasis on Amenfi West highlights the constituency’s strategic importance to the NDC’s regional and national agenda. Known for its agricultural strength and economic potential, the area remains a key pillar in the party’s long-term development and electoral strategy.

Political observers note that the early launch of the exercise signals a departure from conventional approaches, with Chairman Toppoh adopting a proactive, bottom-up strategy that prioritizes grassroots mobilization and early engagement.

The NDC leadership has urged existing members to actively mobilize friends, families, and neighbours to participate in the registration exercise. The goal, party officials say, is to emerge by the end of March with a stronger, broader, and more energized base capable of meeting the demands of the 2026 political landscape.

As party flyers circulating across the constituency boldly declare, “Get registered and be part of the winning team.” For the NDC in Amenfi West, the journey toward the next chapter of Ghana’s governance officially begins on February 10, 2026.
