The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahafo Ano South West, Hon. Abubakar Sedik, has conducted an inspection visit to an ultra-modern football pitch currently under development in the Mankranso community, as part of ongoing efforts to promote sports development and youth empowerment across the district.

The inspection, held today, formed part of the district’s commitment to ensuring that key infrastructural projects are executed to standard and completed within schedule to serve their intended purpose.

During the visit, Hon. Sedik expressed satisfaction with the progress of work on the facility, noting that the natural grass pitch has been fully completed.

According to project assessments, the playing surface is now ready, marking a significant milestone in the construction process.

However, it was also observed that a few essential components remain outstanding before the facility can be fully commissioned for use.

These include the erection of a modern spectators’ stand, the installation of vendor stalls to support commercial activities during matches and events, as well as the development of a designated parking area to accommodate patrons.

Hon. Sedik emphasized that the completion of these remaining structures will enhance the overall functionality of the pitch and position it as one of the finest sporting facilities within the district and the Ashanti Region at large.

“This project is a major investment in our youth and the future of sports in Ahafo Ano South West. The natural grass pitch is complete, and once the stands, vendor stalls, and parking space are provided, this facility will be ready to host major community and district-level competitions,” the DCE stated.

He further noted that sports infrastructure plays a critical role in fostering unity, discipline, and healthy lifestyles among young people, while also creating opportunities for talent discovery and economic activity within host communities.

Residents of Mankranso have welcomed the development with optimism, describing the football pitch as a transformational project that will not only improve sporting activities but also bring social and economic benefits to the area.

Community members believe that once fully completed, the facility will attract tournaments, sporting events, and recreational activities that could boost local businesses and encourage youth participation in productive ventures.

Hon. Sedik reiterated his administration’s resolve to prioritize projects that directly impact community development, stressing that the district remains committed to improving infrastructure in education, health, sports, and other key sectors.

The Mankranso ultra-modern football pitch is expected to become a central hub for sporting excellence and community engagement, reflecting the government’s broader agenda of using sports as a tool for national development and youth empowerment.

As work continues on the remaining components, the district assembly has assured residents that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure the timely completion of the facility for the benefit of the people of Mankranso and the entire Ahafo Ano South West District.
