Inhabitants of Ohwim, a suburb of Kumasi, have done something exemplary by donating a slightly used Nissan pickup and a brand new motorbike to their Police Station.

The initiative, spearheaded by the Assembly Member of Ohwim-Amanfrom area, Hon. Paul Arthur, is meant to aid police mobility in the administration of quality policing.

Sometime last year, the Assembly Member, with support from the Member of Parliament for Bantama, Hon. Francis Asenso-Boakye, traditional leaders, clergymen, and other stakeholders, held a fundraising ceremony to equip the police in the area.

At a ceremony to outdoor the gesture on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at the forecourt of the Police Station, the Mayor of Kumasi, Hon. Richard Ofori-Agyeman Boadi, lauded the community’s support, describing the Assembly Member’s initiative as a show of quality leadership.

He stated that the Assembly Member and the community have been exemplary, urging others to complement the effort of the government to make Ghana better. He appealed to the police to make prudent use of the gesture.

ACP Ishak Ibrahim, Divisional Commander of Suame, on behalf of the Ashanti Regional Command, thanked the Assembly Member for Ohwim, in particular, and the community for their generous contribution to enhancing policing in their areas and borders.

He pledged the police’s readiness to enforce law and order, appealing for continuous support.

Nana Kwaku Baafi II, Otumfuo Nantiahene, also thanked the Assembly Member for the good initiative, expressing appreciation to stakeholders of the community, hoping the police will live up to their mandate, with their support.
