The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Tatale-Sanguli District, Hon. Mary Tagba, has sounded a passionate appeal for urgent intervention to address a worsening water crisis confronting communities across the district.
Describing the situation as dire, Hon. Mary Tagba called on stakeholders, corporate bodies, development partners, and philanthropists to support the Assembly’s efforts in providing sustainable access to potable water.
According to her, despite ongoing interventions by government, the scale of the challenge continues to outpace available resources.
“The district holds immense promise, but development has been significantly hindered by critical infrastructure deficits, particularly access to clean water,” she lamented.
The DCE disclosed that, through government support, the Assembly has successfully drilled 15 boreholes across various communities.
However, she stressed that these efforts remain insufficient to meet the growing demand of the population.
“Government is committed and doing its best to reshape the district, but we cannot do it alone. We need additional support to expand water infrastructure and improve living conditions for our people,” she added.
Beyond the water crisis, Hon. Tagba highlighted other pressing developmental challenges, including the lack of adequate accommodation for essential service providers. She noted that the absence of bungalows for teachers and health workers continues to affect the delivery of quality education and healthcare in the district.
“We urgently need decent accommodation for teachers and nurses. This will not only attract more professionals to the district but also ensure effective service delivery in our schools and health facilities,” she emphasized.
She said, the district is constructing more
Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds and appealed for medical support for the various health centers.
The DCE made these remarks during a brief ceremony marking a significant donation by The Church of Pentecost towards enhancing security infrastructure in the district.
On April 9, 2026, a cheque for GHS 100,000 was presented at Yendi, the Area Headquarters of the Church. The donation, made on behalf of the Chairman of the Church, was officially handed over by the Area Apostle to Hon. Tagba to support the construction of a District Police Headquarters.
The presentation ceremony was attended by key stakeholders, including Pastor Napoleon Eyram, the Tatale District Pastor of the Church, Assembly staff, executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and other party faithful.
Hon. Tagba expressed profound gratitude to the Church for what she described as a timely and impactful intervention. She noted that the contribution would go a long way in strengthening security infrastructure, thereby promoting peace and stability within the district.
“This generous support is a testament to the critical role faith-based organizations play in national development.
It also highlights the importance of collaboration between local authorities and development partners,” she stated.
The Tatale-Sanguli District Assembly, she added, remains committed to working with all stakeholders to address the district’s developmental challenges and unlock its full potential.
As the district grapples with pressing needs, particularly in water supply and social infrastructure, the DCE’s call underscores a growing urgency for collective action to improve livelihoods and drive sustainable development in one of Ghana’s most underserved areas.
