Residents of Ekumfi Asaman have been left in shock following the alleged killing of a man by his wife after a domestic dispute over proceeds from charcoal sales.
The deceased, identified as Kweku Blankson, reportedly died after sustaining multiple cutlass wounds allegedly inflicted by his wife, known in the community as Auntie Esi.
According to information gathered from residents, the couple were farmers who also engaged in the production and sale of charcoal within the community. Trouble reportedly began after a disagreement erupted over the sharing of money generated from their charcoal business.
Sources within the community alleged that the woman accused her husband of withholding a larger portion of the proceeds from the sales, leading to heightened tensions between the pair.
A resident, Isaac Panyin Mensah, disclosed that the confrontation allegedly turned violent, with the deceased reportedly assaulting his wife during the argument.
The situation is said to have escalated later in the night when the suspect allegedly attacked her husband while he was asleep. Reports indicate that she allegedly retrieved a sharp cutlass from the couple’s kitchen and inflicted multiple injuries on him.
The victim was initially rushed to Mankessim Hospital for treatment before being referred to Trauma and Specialist Hospital due to the severity of his injuries. However, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The incident has plunged the community into mourning, with many residents expressing disbelief over the tragic turn of events.
Police are expected to continue investigations to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
