The National Leadership of the Base Movement has presented a brand-new Ford GMC vehicle to its Ashanti Regional Chapter, a move officials say is aimed at strengthening grassroots mobilization ahead of the movement’s main Unity Walk on 4 July 2026.

The donation was made on behalf of the movement’s founder, Dr. Oti Bonsu with Joseph  Osei Yeboah (JOY)  as the Chief Operations Coordinator (COC).

According to organizers, the vehicle is expected to enhance the group’s capacity to reach communities across the region and improve coordination of its outreach programs.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Nana Otupiri Darko, a member of the Operations and Communications team, said the gesture was strategic and timely.

“This donation is to make the Base Movement gain ground in the Ashanti Region, especially ahead of our upcoming main Unity Walk event on 4 July 2026,” he said. “The vehicle will help us to do more of our grassroots mobilization and engage communities more effectively.”

Nana Darko added that the donation forms part of a broader plan to build momentum toward the 2028 general elections. He expressed confidence that the Base Movement was on track to become a significant political force and issued a caution to opposition parties about the group’s growing organizational footprint in the region.

“The ongoing drive across the region is positioning us as a formidable force. We are preparing for 2028, and nothing will stop the work on the ground,” he stated.

Receiving the vehicle on behalf of the Ashanti Regional Chapter, Nana Kofi Senya thanked the national leadership for the support.

He said the vehicle would improve the chapter’s mobility and make the movement more visible and accessible to residents in both urban and rural areas of the region.

“This vehicle is a major boost to our work on the ground,” Nana Senya said. “It shows the commitment of the national leadership to equip the regions and ensure that our message reaches every corner of Ashanti.”

The Base Movement has intensified its outreach and mobilization activities in recent months, holding meetings, community engagements, and smaller walks across several constituencies. Party observers note that the group is seeking to consolidate its base and expand its influence ahead of the next election cycle.

The upcoming Unity Walk in July is expected to be one of the largest gatherings organized by the movement in the Ashanti Region this year. Organizers say it will serve as both a demonstration of support and a platform to outline the group’s policy direction and mobilization strategy for 2028.

With the new vehicle now in operation, regional executives say they will increase the frequency of field visits and community engagement programs in the months leading up to the event.
