Chief of Staff, Dr Julius Debrah, has assured the National Council of Zongo Chiefs that government will take concrete steps to address the concerns and development needs of Zongo communities across the country.

The assurance was given when a delegation of the National Council of Zongo Chiefs paid a courtesy call on President John Dramani Mahama at the Jubilee House to formally congratulate him on his election victory. Dr Debrah received the delegation on behalf of the President, who was engaged in other pressing state duties.

During the meeting, the chiefs presented a memorandum outlining key issues affecting Zongo communities, including infrastructure deficits, youth unemployment, educational challenges and security concerns.

Responding to the concerns, Dr Debrah commended the chiefs for their leadership and commitment to national development, stressing that the government values the role of Zongo communities in Ghana’s socio-economic progress.

“The government views the Zongo communities not just as electoral partners, but as vital pillars in the socio-economic fabric of Ghana. Every concern raised here today will be delivered directly to the desk of His Excellency President Mahama, and strategic steps will be taken to address them,” he stated.

He reaffirmed government’s commitment to inclusive development and pledged continued collaboration with traditional authorities to improve living conditions and expand opportunities for residents of Zongo communities.

The meeting ended with an exchange of pleasantries and group photographs, symbolising a renewed partnership between government and traditional leaders in advancing community development and national cohesion.
