Wear Ghana Jerseys to Support Black Stars — Ahafo Ano South West DCE

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahafo Ano South West in the Ashanti Region, Hon. Abubakar Sadik, has called on residents of the district and Ghanaians across the country to demonstrate their patriotism and unwavering support for the Black Stars by proudly wearing Ghana jerseys on match days during the FIFA World Cup.

According to the DCE, football remains one of the strongest unifying forces in Ghana and offers citizens an opportunity to come together irrespective of political, religious, ethnic or social differences to support a common national cause.

In a statement issued ahead of the tournament, Hon. Sadik urged residents, institutions, youth groups, market women, transport operators, students and workers within the district to actively participate in the national show of support for Ghana’s senior national football team as it competes on the global stage.

He said the Black Stars carry the hopes and aspirations of millions of Ghanaians whenever they step onto the pitch and therefore deserve the full backing of the nation.

“The Ghana jersey is more than just a piece of clothing. It represents our national pride, our identity, our unity and our confidence in the abilities of our players. By wearing our jerseys on match days, we send a strong message to the team that the entire nation stands firmly behind them,” he stated.
Hon. Sadik noted that the World Cup presents a unique opportunity for Ghanaians to showcase their patriotism and celebrate the rich culture and resilience of the country before a global audience.
He encouraged communities throughout Ahafo Ano South West to organize peaceful viewing events and support activities aimed at promoting unity and national pride during the competition.
The DCE further appealed to traditional authorities, religious leaders, assembly members, opinion leaders and community groups to help mobilize residents to rally behind the Black Stars and create an atmosphere of enthusiasm and encouragement throughout the tournament.
He stressed that national development thrives when citizens embrace unity and collective purpose, adding that support for the Black Stars serves as a reminder of the shared values and aspirations that bind Ghanaians together.
“As our national team represents Ghana on the world stage, let us stand together, cheer together and believe together. Let us fill our towns, villages and communities with the colours of our nation and demonstrate the Ghanaian spirit of solidarity and resilience,” he said.
Hon. Sadik expressed confidence in the ability of the Black Stars to perform creditably at the tournament and urged citizens to continue supporting the team throughout the competition regardless of the outcome of individual matches.

He called on residents of Ahafo Ano South West to lead the national campaign of support by proudly wearing their Ghana jerseys, displaying the national colours and encouraging one another to rally behind the Black Stars.
