The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahafo Ano South West in the Ashanti Region, Mr Abubakar Sedik, has appealed to members of the District Assembly to rise above partisan and personal interests and work collectively towards the accelerated development of the district.
According to him, sustainable development can only be achieved when all stakeholders unite behind a common vision and prioritise the welfare of residents over individual and political considerations.
Mr Sedik made the call in his concluding remarks at the First Ordinary Meeting of the Ahafo Ano South West District Assembly held on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.
One Year in Office
Reflecting on his first year in office, the DCE described his tenure as a period of commitment, sacrifice and dedicated service to the people of the district.
He recalled that exactly one year ago, he stood before the Assembly as a newly appointed DCE, entrusted with the confidence of President John Dramani Mahama and the responsibility of spearheading development initiatives in the district.
Mr Sedik noted that the office of a District Chief Executive was not one of comfort but rather one that demanded hard work, perseverance and selfless service to meet the aspirations of the people.
Collective Achievements
Reviewing the district’s progress over the past year, the DCE expressed satisfaction with the gains made in various sectors but emphasised that the achievements should not be attributed to a single individual.
He stressed that the successes recorded were the outcome of teamwork, collaboration and the collective efforts of Assembly Members, management and staff of the Assembly, traditional authorities and other stakeholders.
“The progress we have made as a district is a testament to what can be achieved when we work together towards a common goal,” he stated.
Appreciation
Mr Sedik expressed profound gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for the opportunity to serve as DCE and contribute to the development agenda of the district.
He also commended the Presiding Member, Assembly Members, the District Coordinating Director and staff of the Assembly for their cooperation, dedication and commitment to duty.
Their support, he said, had been instrumental in ensuring effective governance, accountability and the implementation of key development programmes.
Call for Constructive Engagement
The DCE urged Assembly Members to critically examine and constructively engage with his Sessional Address, stressing that informed discussions and decisions were essential for addressing the development needs of the district.
He encouraged members to continue working in unity and harmony to deliver improved services and better living conditions for residents.
Optimism for the Future
Mr Sedik expressed confidence in the future of Ahafo Ano South West, noting that greater achievements could be realised through sustained collaboration and collective responsibility.
He concluded by praying for God’s guidance and blessings upon the district and its people and expressed hope for a brighter future for both Ahafo Ano South West and the Ashanti Region.
“The future of our district is promising, and together we can build a prosperous and inclusive society for all,” he said.
