The Board Chairman of the State Transport Company (STC), Mr Augustus Andrews Nana Kwasi, has initiated discussions with the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, aimed at strengthening public transportation services and improving urban mobility across the region.
The engagement forms part of Nana Kwasi’s efforts to position STC as a key partner in addressing the growing transportation needs of the Ashanti Region, particularly in the face of increasing commuter demands within Kumasi and surrounding communities.
With the region serving as a major commercial and economic hub, the STC Board Chairman underscored the importance of expanding transport capacity to provide residents with safe, reliable and affordable means of movement.
The discussions focused on the deployment of additional STC buses to complement existing public transport services and support commuters, especially during peak travelling hours when demand for transportation is at its highest.
Nana Kwasi explained that strengthening the public transport system is essential to reducing congestion, improving productivity and creating a more efficient movement of people and goods within urban centres.
Supporting Government’s Transport Agenda.
The STC Board Chairman praised government’s commitment towards improving public transportation infrastructure, particularly the provision of 19 buses to strengthen the Metro Mass Transit (MMT) fleet in the Ashanti Region by President John Dramani Mahama and the Ministry of Transport.
He noted that such interventions demonstrate government’s determination to address transportation challenges and improve the daily experiences of commuters.
According to him, STC is prepared to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to expand transport solutions and ensure that residents benefit from a dependable and efficient public transport system.
Partnership For Better Mobility.
Mr Nana Kwasi stressed that a strong transport network remains a vital driver of economic growth, as efficient mobility allows workers, students, traders and businesses to operate effectively.
He indicated that STC’s partnership with the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council reflects a shared commitment to developing sustainable solutions to the region’s transport challenges.
The collaboration, he said, will help create a more organised transportation system capable of responding to the needs of a growing population.
Commitment To Ashanti Residents.
Mr Augustus Andrews Nana Kwasi assured residents that STC would continue to explore opportunities to improve its services and contribute meaningfully to the development of the region.
He reaffirmed the company’s readiness to support government’s Reset Agenda by promoting improved public services and enhancing the quality of transportation available to Ghanaians.
The move is expected to boost confidence in state-owned transport services while providing commuters across the Ashanti Region with improved access to safe, convenient and efficient travel options.
