A leading member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Isham Alhassan Yaw Bonsu, has officially declared his intention to contest for the position of Ashanti Regional Chairman of the party, pledging to unite the rank and file, strengthen grassroots structures and position the NDC for greater electoral success in the region.
His campaign, built around the slogan “Together We Build, Together We Win,” seeks to rally party members behind a vision of unity, discipline and strategic leadership aimed at consolidating the party’s gains in the Ashanti Region.
According to campaign materials released by his team, Mr. Bonsu believes the Ashanti Region remains a critical battleground in Ghana’s electoral politics and requires experienced, dedicated and results-oriented leadership capable of mobilising supporters and expanding the party’s influence.
He has outlined four key priorities that will guide his leadership if elected.
The first is strengthening unity within the party by bringing together executives, branch officials, youth groups, women organisers and supporters under a common agenda to promote harmony and teamwork.
Secondly, he intends to focus on developing the Ashanti Region by empowering grassroots members through capacity-building initiatives, effective political organisation and stronger community engagement.
Mr. Bonsu also promises to build on the party’s electoral successes, saying he will implement practical strategies that will increase the NDC’s competitiveness across constituencies while ensuring the party remains well organised ahead of future elections.
Another major pillar of his campaign is loyalty, service and integrity. He says party leadership must remain accountable to members and committed to serving the collective interests of the NDC rather than personal ambitions.
The campaign message describes Mr. Bonsu as a leader whose political journey has been characterised by experience, dedication and proven results, qualities his supporters believe make him the ideal person to lead the party in the Ashanti Region.
Supporters have expressed confidence that his leadership will help consolidate the party’s structures, improve coordination among constituency executives and deepen grassroots mobilisation across the region.
His campaign also emphasises the need for collective responsibility, stressing that every member has a role to play in strengthening the NDC and increasing its electoral fortunes.
With the Ashanti Regional executive elections expected to attract keen interest among party faithful, Mr. Bonsu’s declaration adds another significant dimension to the race, as delegates prepare to elect leaders who will steer the affairs of the party in one of Ghana’s most politically significant regions.
His campaign concludes with the message: “Ashanti First, NDC Always,” underscoring his commitment to placing the interests of the region and the party at the centre of his leadership agenda.
