The Chief Executive Officer of PIWAK Natural Health, producers of the renowned 3P Garlic Mixture, Dr. Prince Nelson Mortoti, has urged Ghanaians to embrace healthy lifestyles as the most effective way to prevent and manage stomach ulcers.

According to him, ulcers remain one of the most common digestive health conditions affecting many people, but the disease can largely be prevented through healthy eating habits, regular medical check-ups and the responsible use of natural health products.
Speaking on the growing incidence of ulcers, Dr. Mortoti explained that a stomach ulcer is an open sore that develops on the lining of the stomach or the upper part of the small intestine, often causing persistent abdominal pain and discomfort.
He noted that while many people attribute ulcers solely to spicy foods, the major causes include infection with the Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) bacteria, prolonged use of pain-relieving drugs such as ibuprofen and diclofenac, excessive alcohol consumption, smoking, stress and poor eating habits.
Dr. Mortoti observed that irregular eating patterns, skipping meals and over-reliance on painkillers without medical supervision have contributed significantly to the increasing number of ulcer cases in the country.
He warned that untreated ulcers could lead to serious complications, including internal bleeding, perforation of the stomach lining and obstruction of the digestive tract, which may require emergency medical attention.
The health practitioner advised the public to seek prompt medical care if they experience symptoms such as persistent burning pain in the upper abdomen, bloating, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, unexplained weight loss, vomiting blood or passing black stools.
To reduce the risk of developing ulcers, Dr. Mortoti encouraged Ghanaians to eat balanced meals at regular intervals, drink plenty of water, reduce stress, avoid excessive alcohol intake and smoking, maintain good hygiene and avoid the unnecessary use of painkillers.
He also highlighted the role of quality natural health products in supporting digestive wellness.
According to him, 3P Garlic Mixture, produced by PIWAK Natural Health, is formulated from natural garlic extract, which contains allicin, a compound known for its antioxidant and antimicrobial properties that may support digestive health and help the body maintain a healthy gastrointestinal system.
He explained that garlic has long been recognised for its ability to promote immune function, reduce inflammation and support the body’s natural defence against harmful microorganisms, making it a valuable addition to a healthy lifestyle.
Dr. Mortoti, however, cautioned against self-medication and advised individuals with persistent ulcer symptoms to seek professional medical diagnosis and treatment, noting that natural health products should complement—not replace—appropriate medical care where necessary.

He reiterated PIWAK Natural Health’s commitment to promoting preventive healthcare through public education and quality natural products, urging Ghanaians to adopt healthier lifestyles to protect themselves from ulcers and other digestive disorders.

“Healthy living remains the first line of defence against many diseases. Eating well, managing stress, avoiding harmful habits and supporting the body with quality natural products can go a long way in maintaining good digestive health,” he stated.
