The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has opened several power feeders across parts of the Ashanti Region to facilitate planned maintenance works aimed at improving the reliability and efficiency of electricity supply to consumers.
According to information from the power distribution company, a total of six feeders have been opened at various main stations to allow technical teams to undertake scheduled maintenance activities.
The exercise is expected to affect electricity supply to a number of communities and surrounding areas. Residents, businesses and institutions within the affected locations have therefore been advised to take note of the planned works and make the necessary arrangements.
The affected feeders and communities are as follows:
33KV Barekese 1 & 2 Feeder
The 33KV Barekese 1 & 2 feeder at Main OB has been opened for the planned maintenance exercise.
The affected communities include Adankwame, Maaban, Asuofua, Asamang, Nketia, Fufuom, Adugyama, Heman, KCG, Abira, Namong, Ahenkro, Tetrem and Barekese Township, as well as the Ghana Water Company and its surrounding areas.
Residents and institutions within these areas are expected to experience an interruption in power supply while the maintenance works are being carried out.
33KV Aboaso Feeder
The 33KV Aboaso Feeder at Main OW has also been opened to enable maintenance activities.
The communities expected to be affected are Aboaso, Ntonso, Kona, parts of Mamponteng, Dumanafo, parts of Agona and their surrounding areas.
Consumers within these communities have been advised to take the necessary precautions during the period of the maintenance exercise.
11KV Onwe Feeder
The 11KV Onwe Feeder at Main AB is another feeder that has been opened as part of the planned works.
The affected communities include Onwe, Ejisu Senior High School, Kwaso, Donaso, Esienimpong, Abenase and their surrounding areas.
The maintenance works are expected to result in an interruption of electricity supply to consumers within the affected locations.
11KV Complex Feeder
The 11KV Complex Feeder at Main OB, which has been sectioned at Bokankye, will also be affected.
Communities expected to experience the impact of the exercise include Bokankye, Esaase, Daaba and their surrounding areas.
11KV OBR Feeder
The 11KV OBR Feeder at Main OA has been sectioned at Dakwadwum to facilitate the maintenance works.
The affected areas include TUC, Dakwadwum, parts of the Santasi Roundabout area and their surrounding communities.
Consumers in these locations have been urged to take note of the planned interruption and make appropriate arrangements where necessary.
11KV Ohwimase Feeder
The 11KV Ohwimase Feeder at Main OH has also been sectioned at the Shell Filling Station.
The maintenance works will affect parts of Santasi 6 and surrounding areas.
Public Notice
The planned opening of the feeders forms part of efforts to enable technical personnel to carry out maintenance and related works on the electricity distribution network.
While the exercise may temporarily disrupt power supply in the affected communities, such maintenance activities are important for improving the performance and reliability of the network and helping to minimise unplanned outages.
Residents, businesses, schools, health facilities and other institutions within the affected areas are therefore encouraged to take note of the exercise and plan accordingly.
Consumers are also advised to switch off electrical appliances and equipment during the interruption to help protect them when power is restored.
The ECG has urged residents in the affected communities to cooperate with its technical teams as they undertake the planned maintenance works.
