The Atwima Mponua District Assemby in collaboration with the Ismat Foundation, has supported selected Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates in the district with essential educational materials to facilitate their transition into senior high school.
The initiative, dubbed “Back to School Donation,” was spearheaded by the Office of the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Atwima Mponua, Hon. Ibrahim Issahak, in partnership with the Ismat Foundation.
The programme was targeted at BECE candidates who obtained aggregate 6 to 12, with the objective of providing them with some of the basic learning materials required as they prepare to continue their education at the senior high school level.
The donation formed part of efforts to support brilliant and deserving students and reduce the financial burden on families as they prepare their wards for the next stage of their academic journey.
SUPPORT FOR STUDENTS
The initiative recognised that the transition from the basic school level to senior high school comes with a number of financial demands on parents and guardians.
Apart from school fees and other expenses, families are required to provide textbooks, exercise books, mathematical sets, calculators and other learning materials for their children.
For some households, especially those facing financial difficulties, meeting these requirements can be challenging.
The intervention by the Atwima Mponua District Assembly and the Ismat Foundation therefore seeks to provide practical assistance to beneficiaries while encouraging them to remain focused on their education.
EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS
According to the programme details, beneficiaries are to receive a range of educational materials to support their studies.
The items include English textbooks (AKI-OLA), Mathematics textbooks (AKI-OLA), Integrated Science textbooks, scientific calculators, mathematical sets and exercise books, among other educational materials.
The selection of the items reflects some of the basic academic needs of students entering the senior high school environment.
The provision of textbooks and other learning materials is expected to complement the efforts of parents, guardians and schools in preparing the beneficiaries for their new academic environment.
PARTNERSHIP
The collaboration between the Atwima Mponua District Assembly and the Ismat Foundation also highlights the role of partnerships between local government institutions and private or charitable organisations in supporting education.

The Back to School Donation was done today , Friday, September 18, 2026, at the Atwima Mponua District Assembly premises, beginning at 2:00 p.m.
The programme brought together the beneficiaries, their parents and guardians, representatives of the District Assembly, the Ismat Foundation and other stakeholders in education.
The initiative ultimately seeks to give the beneficiaries the needed educational tools as they embark on the next chapter of their academic lives, while reinforcing the importance of investing in young people as a foundation for the future development of the Atwima Mponua District.
