344

Hon. Paul Yeboah Asiamah, a politician, educationist and professional public relations practitioner, is aspiring to become the next Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Atwima Nwabiagya North Constituency of the Ashanti Region.

His aspiration comes against the backdrop of his experience in local governance, constituency-level party administration, educational leadership and community development, areas that have featured prominently in his professional and public service career.

Mr. Asiamah’s curriculum vitae documents several leadership positions across the local government system, educational institutions, university governance and political organisation.
His background includes service as an elected Assembly Member, committee chairman, constituency secretary of the NDC and leader in student governance at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
These experiences form the foundation of his profile as he seeks to lead the NDC at the constituency level.
EXPERIENCE IN GRASSROOTS GOVERNANCE
Mr. Asiamah served as the Assembly Member for the Adankwame Electoral Area from 2019 to 2023, representing his electoral area in local governance and participating in decision-making processes concerning community development.
During his tenure, he occupied several committee leadership positions within the Nwabiagya local government structure.
He served as Chairman of the Finance and Administration Committee of the Nwabiagya Assembly from 2019 to 2021, with responsibilities relating to finance, administration, planning and institutional management.
He subsequently chaired the Works Committee of the Nwabiagya North Assembly from 2021 to 2023, providing oversight on development and works-related matters.
His other committee responsibilities included membership of the Security and Justice Committee, the Agric and Small-Scale Mining Committee, and the Gender Committee.
The various assignments exposed him to different aspects of local administration, including community safety, agriculture, development planning and gender-related issues.
He also served as Chairman of the Adankwame Area Council from 2021 to 2023, adding community administration to his record of public service.
His experience in these positions provides insight into the administrative structures through which local authorities engage communities and address development concerns.
EXPERIENCE IN NDC PARTY ADMINISTRATION
Within the NDC, Mr. Asiamah served as Constituency Secretary from 2022 to 2023.
The position involved political administration, organisational coordination, communication and other constituency-level activities.
His experience as Constituency Secretary is particularly relevant to his current aspiration for the constituency chairmanship, as both positions operate within the party’s local organisational structure, albeit with different responsibilities.
While his previous role focused on secretarial and administrative functions, the chairmanship would place him in a leadership position within the constituency’s party administration.
His political background, combined with his experience in local government, constitutes a significant part of his professional profile.
As an aspiring constituency chairman, his record provides a basis for discussions about party organisation, grassroots engagement, internal coordination and the relationship between party structures and local communities.
However, his specific campaign promises and proposed programmes for the constituency chairmanship would need to be established separately from his documented professional history.
ACADEMIC BACKGROUND AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Mr. Asiamah’s educational background spans science, teacher education, political communication, international relations and media studies.
He attended Prempeh College, where he studied General Science from 2005 to 2008.
He proceeded to Wesley College of Education, obtaining a Diploma in Mathematics and Science Education between 2009 and 2012.
He later attended the University of Education, Winneba, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences from 2014 to 2018.
In further pursuit of academic development, he obtained an MPhil in Political Communication and International Relations from the University of Ghana, Legon, between 2018 and 2020.
He subsequently earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Media and Communication Studies from KNUST, completing the programme in 2024.
His academic training covers disciplines relevant to teaching, communication, political organisation and public engagement.
The combination of these qualifications forms part of the professional background he brings to his political and administrative engagements.
LEADERSHIP BEYOND PARTY POLITICS
Beyond his involvement in local governance and party administration, Mr. Asiamah has held leadership positions within the university and educational sectors.
At KNUST, he served as Chief Justice from 2022 to 2023 and as Chairman of the Judicial Committee of MECSA from 2021 to 2023.
He also served as Chairman of the Social Sciences Academic Board at the university from 2023 to 2024.
His responsibilities within these structures involved student governance, judicial processes and academic affairs.
In the educational sector, he served as a board member of Spiritan Senior High School, Adankwame, from 2019 to 2021 before becoming chairman of the school’s governing board in 2022.
These positions form part of his wider experience in institutional leadership and administration.
COMMUNICATION AND STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT
Mr. Asiamah also has an academic and professional background in public relations, political communication and media studies.
As a professional public relations practitioner, his stated areas of experience include strategic communication, stakeholder engagement, media and communication, and public administration.
These fields are relevant to the management of political organisations, where communication between party executives, grassroots members, elected representatives and other stakeholders forms part of constituency administration.
His training in political communication and international relations, alongside his studies in media and communication, adds another dimension to his profile.
His experience across political, educational and local government institutions provides a broad background in organisational processes and public engagement.
FOCUS ON THE CONSTITUENCY CHAIRMANSHIP
Mr. Asiamah’s aspiration to lead the NDC in Atwima Nwabiagya North places his experience in party administration and grassroots governance at the centre of his political journey.
The constituency chairman’s position is an important component of the party’s local organisational structure, involving leadership and coordination within the constituency.
As he pursues the position, his record as a former Assembly Member, Constituency Secretary and committee chairman provides the background against which his leadership credentials and future proposals may be considered by party delegates.
Issues such as grassroots mobilisation, internal party coordination, communication, unity and constituency organisation are among the areas relevant to discussions about constituency-level party leadership.
His specific position on these matters, together with any proposed reforms or campaign commitments, would be important elements of his chairmanship bid.
For now, his documented professional background reflects experience across local government, political administration, education, student leadership and public relations.

As the contest for the NDC constituency chairmanship approaches, attention will be on the candidates’ records, proposals and engagement with party members as they seek support for their respective aspirations.
