1,528
Traders at the New Kumasi Kejetia Market have threatened to demonstrate against the management of the market and the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly over the leaking roof of the market.
The traders say their goods get spoil whenever it rains due to the leakage nature of the roof and what they called poor work done by the Contracta Engineering Limited which constructed the market.
They also complained about chocked gutters, non-access routes to some part of the market, looming health risk as a result of vehicle excessive fumes, exorbitant light bills, service charges among other concerns which they say is affecting their business.
Addressing a press conference today, Nana Akwasi Prempeh, the Public Relations Officer for the traders, said the management of the market and the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly has served them poorly.
He said despite the problems channelled to them to fix, nothing has been done about it.
He, therefore, on behalf of the traders gave the management of the market and the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly a 14-day ultimatum to fix the problem else they will demonstrate.
