Suame Municipal Education Directorate Establishes Quality Assurance Unit

The Suame Municipal Director of Education, Pastor Dr. Anthony Anyamesem-Poku, has commissioned a 9-member Quality Assurance Unit in the Suame Municipal Education Directorate.

The Unit, according to our sources, is the first to be established in the Ghana Education Service (GES) to identify and help prevent the defects in the Directorate and to recommend mechanism to quality Management systems.

Pastor Dr Anyamesem-Poku, who disclosed this, said the Unit is to ensure that education officers and School Heads strictly adhere to best practices and supervise teaching and learning in their respective areas in order to improve the fallen standard of education in Suame.

According to him, quality in education, as a key priority is associated with relevance, costs, equity and compliance to international standards.

He said quality assurance system in education grants both their internal and external customers the confidence to attain the assumed standards .

According to the Education Director, Quality Assurance, which aims among other things, is to help the organization to work towards zero-defect practices thereby ensuring customer satisfaction through continuous improvement.

According to him, the Unit will directly report their findings and recommendations to him, for measures to be taken to address such concerns.

Dr Anyamesem-Poku, charged the Unit to focus at improving the essential skills and competencies to face the challenges that confront the Directorate.

Pastor Dr. Anyamesem-Poku further disclosed that the Quality Assurance Unit is expected to create growth opportunities as well as to consolidate the gains adding this alone will enable the Directorate remain competitive and become market leaders.

On his part, Mr Albert Mensah, Headmaster of Pentecost Senior High School, asked the members in the unit to stick to their defined job specifications to avoid a conflict with the roles of other education officers.

Mr Mensah, who was happy with such establishment, advised the members to fearlessly discharge their duties effectively to help improve education in the Suame Municipality.
