The Member of Parliament (MP) for Adansi-Akrofuom in the Ashanti Region, Hon Joseph Azumah, has assured residents of Adansi-Ankaase that efforts are underway to address some of the major developmental challenges confronting the community.
The community, which has been grappling with a number of basic infrastructural deficits, has appealed to the government and other relevant authorities to urgently intervene to improve living conditions in the area.
Among the major concerns raised by the residents are the poor state of the roads, lack of potable drinking water, electricity and access to basic educational infrastructure.
According to the residents, the challenges have affected economic and social activities in the community, while the poor road network, in particular, has made movement difficult for residents and the transportation of farm produce to nearby markets.
Speaking on the concerns, Mr Joseph Azumah said he had received the concerns of the people and was working to mobilise the necessary resources to begin addressing some of the challenges.
He said arrangements were being made to reshape the road serving the community and also provide a source of potable water to improve access to safe drinking water.
The MP explained that the nature of the road and the prevailing weather conditions had contributed to the delay in reshaping it.
He said the road required a prolonged dry season for the work to be carried out effectively, stressing that attempts to undertake major reshaping works during the rainy season could not produce the desired results.
Mr Azumah, therefore, assured the residents that the road remained on his development agenda and that efforts would be intensified to ensure that the necessary work was undertaken when the weather conditions became favourable.
He also indicated that the provision of potable water was receiving attention as part of measures to improve the living conditions of the people.
The MP said access to basic amenities was critical to the development of the community and pledged to continue engaging the relevant stakeholders to find sustainable solutions to the challenges.
Appeal on Electoral Transfer.
Mr Azumah also appealed to the people of Adansi-Ankaase to consider transferring their votes from Dunkwa to Kubi, saying such a move would strengthen his ability to lobby for development projects for the area.
He explained that having the community properly aligned electorally would enhance his engagement with relevant authorities and improve his ability to advocate for development interventions for the people.
He urged the residents to consider the request in the interest of the development of the community and the wider district.
The MP further encouraged the people to continue engaging him on their developmental concerns, assuring them that he remained committed to working with the community to address their most pressing needs.
Residents of Adansi-Ankaase are expected to continue their engagements with the MP and other stakeholders as efforts are made to improve road connectivity, access to potable water, electricity and education in the community.
